The Socrates

The level of curiosity surrounding Socrates is directly correlated to the amount of exploration required to attain the pinnacle of intelligence.

One reason for his anxiety at the last age made him worry about the future of his sons. He had a belief that wisdom is divine rather than parental teachings. His proverb is world-famous due to realism, as he said, “Successful fathers did not produce the sons of their quality.”

At the time of Socrates, it was prohibited in Athens to gather young people in one place for no specific reason. The solution, however, has to find, in reverse order, by solving the minor issues first. American Judiciary and scientists until now used this authentic method to solve problems.

When Athenians faced a decline in power and popularity after being defeated by Sparta, Socrates was preaching on its high. As usual, his thoughts liked by some and hatred by others. Now, Athens needs to recover from the defeat of Sparta, and Athenians are entertaining democracy in Athens that may help them to get their place back. Socrates’s criticism of democracy led to his trial, which shoulders him to his death.

Being loyal to his country, he showed his disagreement with Athenian’s politics and started praising the good strategies of Sparta. This urged the opposition of Socrates and helped the government to file a case against him. Unfortunately, the trial for Socrates didn’t turn up his favor, and he lost it by 59 votes, where 221 were in his favor, and 280 were against. According to Athenian culture, the convicted can swap his sentence with an alternate punishment option. But the great man chose to respect his companions rather than escape from exile.

His friends and disciples offered him another chance to flee from exile by offering a bribe to the guards, but he refused to do so because he did not want to disrespect the courts of his beloved country.

He chose his death by drinking hemlock poison. Soon after he drank the liquid, it noticed that it started affecting his body from the toe of the foot and finally reached the heart by releasing his soul.

Below are mentioned some famous paradoxes associated with him.

·      No one desires evil.

·      Virtue—all virtue—is knowledge.

·      Virtue is sufficient for happiness.

The last words of Socrates are “Crito,” which means in today’s language, “Please do not forget to pay your debts.”
